The Famous Stagg Tree

The reason I call this a "famous" tree is because it is! It is the 5th tallest tree in the world, which is pretty crazy! That is one of the many reasons to visit Sequoia Crest!
Here is a closer up photo of the Stagg Tree. It is one of the many giant sequoia trees in Sequoia Crest. My guess is that the first branch on this tree is about 100 ft off the ground.
Looks can be deceiving! Does this tree look like it has a 95 ft circumference? It sure didn't look like it to me the first time I saw it, but that is the truth. The big black stripe is a burn mark and it goes through the tree. So you can walk straight through it, which is really cool.
Here is another view straight up the tree. It is estimated to be 3000 years old and has been struck by lightning multiple times. A friend of mine has climbed it before and said that 4 grown men could comfortably lay at the top of the tree. Now that's amazing!

Introducing Our Cabin

Here we are in Sequoia Crest! It is a small development of about 100 homes located in the Tulare County Mountains. The elevation is about 6800ft. It is surrounded by giant sequoia groves. What a beautiful setting!

Manzanita Drive is the road that our cabin is located on. It is a dead end road so in the winter it does not get plowed. Makes for a fun challenge to get all our stuff to the house!

So at last here is the cabin! Small, but charming! It is located on a corner lot and is one of the biggest lots in Sequoia Crest. This cabin was one of the original 5 cabins up in Sequoia Crest, which makes it unique.
